Every year, hundreds of thousands of Malayali families migrate to countries like the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and the Middle East. While parents continue to speak Malayalam at home, their children grow up in English-speaking schools and social environments — and gradually, Malayalam fades.
The Moment That Sparked Everything
The result is a painfully familiar scene during Kerala visits — a child standing in front of their grandparents, wanting to connect, but unable to find the words. Our founder Jobin MJ witnessed this emotional disconnect repeatedly among friends, family, and the wider Malayali community abroad. He saw firsthand how children felt shy, disconnected, and left out simply because they couldn't speak their own language.
The Idea That Became Decode Malayalam
This emotional gap inspired the creation of Decode Malayalam — a platform dedicated to helping the next generation learn Malayalam in a fun, structured, and practical way, no matter where they live in the world. The solution was simple: bring native Kerala teachers directly to students' homes via live online classes, in their own timezone, at their own pace.

Jobin MJ founded Decode Malayalam with a clear vision — to make learning Malayalam accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world. With a deep passion for language, culture, and education, he designed a teaching approach that focuses on practical results: real conversations with real family members.
